“When difficult times hit us, it’s easy to become absorbed by our fears and needs. People all over the world would agree that these are indeed difficult days. In these days, HOW we pray may be every bit as important THAT we pray. Prayers shaped by fears can eventually dwindle to cries for no more than our own survival. Prayers focused on needs can gradually shrink to selfish wish -lists concerning our own circumstances.” - Steve Hawthorne, Waymakers
How will we choose to pray and seek God during these times, in this new year 2010???
Our prayer, as the staff of First Alliance Church, is that we would be a people passionate about the work of Christ in our city – New York City. That we would be a people passionate about seeking the face of God above all else, and that as a result we would be a people that are fully transformed for His Glory and for the sake of His Kingdom.
Join with us for the next 40 days as we focus on “praying toward His promises” for our city. We are going to be using the prayer guide that WayMakers creates each year for this specific purpose. Each Sunday we will cover one of the six areas we will be praying though during those 40 days.
Praying toward His promises…
…to renew Christ’s LIFE among His people. January 10th
…to bring the LIGHT of the Gospel to many. January 17th
…to reveal Christ’s GLORY to all peoples. January 24th
…to establish RIGHTEOUSNESS in our cities. January 31st
…to bring His PEACE in relationships. February 7th
…to welcome the VISITATION of God. February 14th

Are you looking for a unique way to give ???
Well look no further. CAMA Services the relief arm of The Christian and Missionary Alliance has a very cool and unique way for you to do just that.
Think $3 for an amazing tree! The Moringa tree has “leaves that provide more vitamin C than oranges, more iron than spinach, more vitamin A than carrots, and more potassium than bananas! On top of that, the powder from Moringa seeds can be used as a water purifier, and since the tree grows 13 feet a year, it is also a source of firewood.” (from the CAMA Newsletter)

Every Wednesday
Beginning @ 6pm
Come when you can and leave when you must.

So what is NOW???
Now \’nau\:
It is true…there is no time like NOW! You might be asking why NOW and not the typical phrase “there is no time like the present”! While the word NOW speaks of the present, there is a little more to it. In fact in the Merriam Webster On-line Dictionary describes NOW as the “time immediately before the present“. Interesting, right? “Time immediately before the present”, is that even possible? It comes across as slightly futuristic sounding.
NOW.
As I was thinking about this word NOW a few thoughts came to my mind. The first is that God is in the business of NOW. He is always acting in the NOW, in the “just before” moments you might say. There is constant action and movement with Him, whether that action is visible or not. He is not a passive God. He is not one to sit back and watch things roll on by. He IS on the other hand always at work, always creating, always moving, always speaking, and always looking for those who join with Him in the business of NOW.
The second thought was that the reality of all this is that God wants us to learn the business of NOW because it puts us in alignment with His purposes and His desires. When you think about it, NOW is really all that we have – it is all that God has given us. Tomorrow as we are often reminded of is not guaranteed.
There is a lot about the business of NOW that I am still learning and work through myself, but I know that I want to be with God in the NOW. I don’t want to be a few steps behind or a little late. I want to be a part of the NOW – not only for what He wants to do in my life but for what He has for those who are in my church, my circle of friends, my community, my family, and the list goes on.
In light of some of these things and in the way God has been moving, as a staff, we have felt that one of the NOW things God is doing, is calling His people to worship and to prayer. To be fully immersed in His transforming presence & to begin to get serious about aligning our lives with Him.
Will you join us for our first NOW? We have taken the theme of NOW and have used that word to also describe our Wednesday gatherings as “Nights Of Worship”.
Not only are we declaring that we want to be in the NOW with God but that we want to be people who desire to make worship and prayer a priority in our lives and in our church. For some this will be a new experience, for others maybe not, but we encourage you to all come out and join in. Come and be present during these nights and allow God the freedom to transform you.
The time is NOW!
Take some time and meet our community!
