plug-in. be active.

In the book of James, chapter 2:17 it says,

“Faith that doesn’t lead us to good deeds is all alone and dead.”

Keeping these words in mind, we want to encourage each individual who is a part of First Alliance to plug-in and be active.

Our mission at First Alliance expresses this – To engage people by manifesting the love and compassion of Christ, through the visible and tangible ways we live our lives in the communities of New York City.

As do our guiding values, specifically Community Responsibility – fulfilling our roles as believers within the church family and our circles of influence and Ownership – supporting wholeheartedly, the work and leading of God through our resources (monetarily, spiritual gifting, and skills).

Below is a list of organizations (not an exhaustive list by any means) that we believe are places where you can plug-in and be active in a variety of ways – by serving, teaming up, monetarily supporting, etc. The options and organizations are endless. This is simply a place to start.

CAMA Services“CAMA” stands for Compassion and Mercy Associates. CAMA provides a variety of relief and development ministries that flesh out the good news of God’s love for people—body and soul. This is accomplished through compassionate servants ministering to people in crisis situations through word and deed.

CAMA began as an outreach to refugees fleeing the horrors of the Indochina conflict in 1972. Through camps in Thailand serving Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian refugees, CAMA staff provided food, clothing, medical care, job training and a verbal witness to the truth that God’s Son died and rose again. CAMA’s outreach meets the needs of the whole person—spiritual and physical.

The lessons learned in Indochina were soon applied among refugees in hong Kong, Lebanon, Jordan and Guinea and famine victims in Burkina Faso and Mali. Development projects were started to empower the poor to live in hope. - taken from the CAMA Services website
